Wil believes that the current residents of District 4 built this community into a great place, and they deserve to remain here and flourish. As the community grows, he wants to manage growth so that our community does not lose its personality and feel.
Wil is ready to roll up his sleeves to tackle District 4’s top issues, including one issue that is commonly mentioned by residents - litter in our community. Wil will work to bring more litter removal efforts to District 4 because a dirty community cannot thrive.
Safety is the foundation of a thriving community and Wil is committed to making District 4 a safer place for residents and families. The path to a safe community cannot and will not be achieved solely by arresting criminals, but instead through a holistic and collaborative approach that includes neighborhood leaders, churches, and engaged residents. Wil is committed to ensuring that public safety improves for all families across District 4.
The LYNX Blue Line gives affordable access to greater Charlotte. Wil wants to improve all CATS operations to better connect areas like Highland Creek and Davis Lake to the light rail. Building Park and Ride facilities, bike lanes and pedestrian paths will give District 4 residents more options for travel.
Another issue that has recently become a major issue across District 4 is the increase in tractor trailers parked in neighborhoods. Wil recognizes that many of the tractor trailers parked in District 4 are owned by District 4 residents who are finding it hard to pay for truck parking due to inflation. Wil is committed to tackling the issue in order to support jobs in our community without turning neighborhoods into parking lots for big rigs.
To restore the trust and safety to the Mall, it will need to be reimagined. The infrastructure and uses of the mall will need to change to become a safe entertainment destination. Wil is ready to convene local neighborhood and community leaders to provide input and develop a plan for a safe Northlake Mall.
District 4 is filled with high-quality retail and dining options. To take our district to the next level, pouring resources and support into our small businesses will be essential. Their creative entertainment options will transform District 4 into a booming entertainment area.
Wil believes that by eliminating silos and working together, we can better solve the problems facing our District and city. Wil is committed to being a strong voice for our community on more than just city-related issues such as K-12 schools, healthcare, and social services that are critical to District 4 residents.
